Another Boykin Blog!

The Boykin Spaniel

The Boykin Spaniel is a small, multipurpose retrieving breed that was developed in South Carolina. Named after the avid sportsman and land developer Whit Boykin, the breed was selectively bred and developed to be the perfect companion for single hunters traveling in small boats along the Wateree River. The size and weight of the Boykin Spaniel makes it an ideal hunting companion in the small sectional boats used by many hunters in the area.

Boykin Spaniels have a lot of drive and energy in the field, and have maintained the typical spaniel flushing and retrieving abilities. Paired with the Boykin's eagerness to please and gentle nature, the breed is an ideal companion in the home or out in the field.
